Chemical Peels
Chemical peels are simple yet effective options to maintain healthy, glowing skin. Treatments also prolong cosmetic procedure results between office visits. All solutions work by exfoliating or peeling the skin to reveal smoother, brighter complexions below the surface. Chemical peels vary widely in strength, ingredients, effects, and downtime, so it’s crucial to choose the right options for your skin.
The Revive Peel
The Revive peel is Gold Cost Dermatology’s signature formula. It’s a gentle solution that blends different acids to stimulate collagen production, improve texture, even pigmentation, and brighten skin tone. The Revive peel delivers skin rejuvenation with almost no downtime.
What to expect:
- One of Gold Coast Dermatology’s estheticians will apply the chemical solution to your face. Most people feel a mild stinging sensation that lasts five to 10 minutes while the solution sets into the skin.
- The gentle Revive formula requires minimal downtime. Peeling typically occurs 3-5 days after.
- Results last about a month or two before follow-up treatments may be required.
Jessner’s Peel
Considered a medium-depth peel, Jessner’s uses a blend of apla- and beta-hydroxy acids, along with resorcinol, lactic and salicylic acids in an ethanol base. This penetrating solution treats deeper damage while promoting the reconstruction of the outer skin layer as well. The results yield improvements in hyperpigmentation, scarring, wrinkles, and elasticity.
What to expect:
- We’ll apply Jessner’s peel to your skin using a gauze pad, brush, or cotton-tipped applicator. Depending on the peel strength, you may feel mild to moderate burning or stinging. Your skin may also feel tight and dry.
- Following the peel, your face may be red, swollen, and tight. You may also see brown patches, but these should resolve after the skin heals.
- It may take five to seven days to develop new skin and up to two weeks to see the final results.
TCA Peel
Derived from trichloroacetic acid, TCA peels chemically exfoliate the skin, reducing the look of age spots, acne scars, sun damage, and expression lines. TCA peels generally come in light to medium strength formulas. Depending on the strength, we can apply TCA to the face, neck, hands, and other body parts.
What to expect:
- The treatment takes about 30 minutes, but TCA peels may require more than one appointment for maximum effects.
- After applying the peel to your face, the treated skin may begin to whiten, causing a burning sensation that lasts several minutes.
- Like the Jessner peel, TCA peels can require up to 14 days for the skin to experience complete turnover and heal.
Fruit Enzyme Peel
Fruit enzyme peels incorporate a gentle blend of salicylic acid, papain, and bromelain enzymes for rapid exfoliation. Spearmint and camphor oils complement the formula to stimulate collagen and unclog pores while brightening the complexion. Fruit enzyme peels are suitable for all skin types.
What to expect:
- As the chemical solution seeps into the skin, it’s normal to experience mild tingling that lasts a few minutes.
- Fruit enzyme peels are incredibly mild, appropriate for sensitive skin, and require zero downtime.
- Affordable and fast-acting, fruit enzyme peels deliver results lasting from two weeks to a month.
Pumpkin Enzyme Peel
Pumpkin enzyme peels exfoliate dead skin cells, stimulate blood flow, and decongest pores while protecting against environmental toxins. This warming peel formula is rich in antioxidants along with vitamins A and C, beta-carotene, potassium, and zinc. Its rejuvenating ingredients improve skin tone and texture.
What to expect:
- This light peel formula utilizes glycolic and lactic acids to penetrate clogged pores and boost natural cell regeneration.
- Like other fruit enzyme peels, pumpkin peels require zero downtime. Some patients experience mild stinging, which quickly subsides.
- Enzyme peels effectively refresh the skin for two weeks to a month.
